Mother prioritises children’s future
Children are the future of our families and I think we should prioritise them.
Folole Malomaua from Faleasi’u believes in her children’s capabilities and every day, she makes sure they are making use of their time in school.
The 31-year old mother is just like any other mother, putting her child first and she was on her way to see her parents-in-law when the Village Voice caught up with her.
“We are still trying to develop our family, I have one child and my husband works hard so that we can pay off school fees,” she tells Village Voice.
“Children are loved dearly by their parents so it is important for every parent to put their children first because they are the future.”
Folole said that there are too many changes in this life and the cost of living has become very expensive.
“The cost of living is really expensive but I think we should all just focus on the fact that these children’s futures matter and use that to motivate us to work hard every day.
“As I’ve said before, my husband is the one we depend on for money because he works as a security guard at Tupua Tamasese Meaole Hospital at Moto’otua.
“He gets paid well and that’s more than enough for us to budget for what we need for our kids and also village obligations.
“But when he gets sick, then he stays home and it’s then, that we turn to our plantation because that’s another good source for money.
“It’s not always a good thing to deal with problems but somehow we’ve survived because it’s God’s grace that we still get to have something to eat.
Folole’s goal is to prioritize her child so that she reaches her own success.
“She is a blessing and I really hope for every child in this world to have better futures because life right now, it’s really not that easy any more.
Folole went on to say a lot of money also goes to family fa’alavelave, church obligations and village obligations.
“It’s true there’s too many obligations to deal with but we’re Samoans, these are not things that we can just run away from. It’s a good thing we’re used to it.
Folole’s hope is for her children to work hard towards a better future so they can help their family achieve great things in life.
