The newest outlet of the Farmer Joe Supermarket opened at Siusega for business yesterday.

At Farmer Joe Magi yesterday, a live band, sausage sizzle, and free snow cones for the kids welcomed shoppers to the latest edition of the Farmer Joe chain.

This supermarket’s timely opening has special significance as it was the very place Herman (Magi) Paul Westerlund began his humble journey.

Now on its 50th anniversary, the place where the old Magi Store once stood is home to a sparkling new store.

General Manager of Farmer Joe,  A.J. Crawley, said there is special significance about having the shop in the area.

“We’ve got positive feedback on what we’ve done and what we’ve setup,” he said. “We’re happy as long as we hear that our customers are happy with what we’ve done.”

Taking a peek inside, the supermarket hosts a similar aesthetic to its brother stores but with a certain freshness to it.

For instance, you will find in the frozen section that all of the equipment is specially ordered from overseas to assure quality freshness from the store to your table.

“Our ultimate aim is to continually improve our quality and standard as we go along so that we can give the people of Samoa a shopping experience that they can expect overseas,” he said.

“All equipment in this supermarket is top of the line and you will not find in any other supermarket in Samoa.”

The location of the supermarket is also convenient for on the go shoppers, especially those travelling by bus, to  pick up something on the way home.

“We want to give an improved offering and try to spread Farmer Joes around to where they can be strategically placed for our customer place and a better and easier shopping experience around Samoa.”

Mr. Crawley concluded by thanking the many hands that have made this opening possible.

“There are so many people behind the scenes that helped make all this possible.  A car is only as good as its engine and our engine is our hard working Farmer Joe Staff, and the people who support us - our suppliers.  It has been  a team effort of long hours to open this store. Thank you all for your hard work and support.”
