Samoa’s only Olympic medal-producing sport, weightlifting, has received a much-needed financial boost.

Yesterday, Ah Liki Wholesale handed over $15,000 at the Island Rock conference room.

The presentation officially marked the beginning of their sponsorship for the Samoa Weightlifting Federation through – Natural Samoa Water

General Manager of Ah Liki Investment, Asiata Alex Brunt, presented the cheque to the President of the Samoa Weightlifting Federation, Tuaopepe Jerry Wallwork.

Samoa’s Olympic heroine, Ele Opeloge and a team of weightlifters, were present.

“This sponsorship is to show our support and to help the team of weightlifters with the training for 2017,” said Asiata.

“It is our way of giving back to the community in order to help develop a sport that has provided Samoa with so much recognition internationally.

“For 2017, the Samoa Weightlifting Federation will be carrying our brand “Natural Samoa Water,” for water is life; hence why it is important to hydrate your body with natural, refreshing water – Natural Samoa Water.”

Now turning his attention to the weightlifters themselves, Asiata addressed the team by saying: “Your effort speaks for itself ... all your hard work is evident through the sweat and personal sacrifice you have made to represent our country.

“We at Ah Liki Wholesale are 100% behind your team and we hope that our contribution will help the continued success of the Weightlifting Team.”

Tuaopepe expressed his gratitude to Asiata and the Ah Liki Investment group.

“On behalf of the Samoa Weightlifting Federation, we are honoured this morning that we have the support of and partnership with Ah Liki Wholesale with Natural Samoa Water,” he said.

“We see it as a way moving forward as the Federation prepares for many international tournaments including the Commonwealth Games

“On behalf of the Federation, I would just like to say thank you very much to the management for this much-needed sponsorship.  It will assist us greatly this year”.

“This is the water the weightlifting athletes will be drinking and I can guarantee you this is the water where we are going to get the power!”
