George Brown Primary School was a place of celebration on Wednesday as parents honoured their children’s hard work throughout the 2017 academic year.

Proud parents, Rev. Faletolu Fiti and Vi looked on with pride as their son, Sakaria, received the 2017 Dux award.

Aside from being named Dux, he was also the only student from George Brown to be accepted into Samoa College.

Speaking to the Samoa Observer, he thanked all the teachers and parents for the work and time they invested in him.

“I’m looking forward to attending Samoa College next year, and I thank my parents for all the hard work,” he said.

“I promise to make you happy in the future and I thank God for you.

“I also want to thank the principal and teachers of my school for all the hard work you have put in throughout the year, I pray that the Lord will shower you with blessings.”

He wants to become a scientist in the future.

“That’s my dream for the future, but for now I have to focus on my studies knowing that I have lots to work on before reaching that goal.

“All I have to do now is to study hard and trust in the Lord.”

Sakaria has roots in Neiafu, Fasito’o-Uta, Faleula and Fualuga and he’s the third child of six siblings.
