The Bank of the South Pacific (B.S.P.) Samoa donated $ 5,000 to the Marist St. Joseph’s Sports Club yesterday in preparations for the first Marist International Sports Week.

The sponsorship  includes $3,000 to be allocated towards official team uniforms for the annual 29th Vailima Marist International Sevens Tournament.

The Head of Business for B.S.P, Edward Yee, made the presentation.

“B.S.P. is proud to sponsor this event as participants of this tournament are players from villages in Savai’i and here in Upolu as well as a few teams from overseas,” he said.

“But most importantly we are giving a little back to the community by supporting this event to help with the youths development in their career in rugby.”

Present to receive the cheque was Marist Vice President, Tupa’i Klaus Stunzner, who is also the President of the Marist Boxing Club.  He gracefully thanked B.S.P. for stepping in to help their cause and hoped that their relationship continues to flourish.

“On behalf of the organizing  committee of the Marist St. Joseph’s International Sports Week, we express our sincere thanks and appreciation to B.S.P. for their contribution.  This is not the first time B.S.P. has come on board for the Marist International Sevens.  We are very appreciative.

“We feel it is in line with B.S.P‘s sporting initiative “Never Stop Playing” and that’s what Marist St. Joseph’s is trying to achieve through these initiatives to make sure youth never stop playing.

“Not just for health reasons but we believe it helps them a lot in terms of team building and leaderships skills.  Thank you B.S.P., without the support and all of our sponsors we wouldn’t be able to host these events.”
