Miracles don’t happen if you just sleep and do nothing

Life is not about sleeping and waiting for miracles to happen.

Samoa Pelasia, 43, from the village of Leauva’a-uta, believes it is about making the best of every situation and working hard.

Mr. Pelasia was on his way to his plantation when the Village Voice caught up with him yesterday afternoon.

“The life we have today is really different from before in terms of the cost of things as well as making money to support our families,” he said.

“One thing that is making life really hard today is that of the amount of money people earning from work and jobs are not even enough.”

Mr. Pelasia also mentioned that his role in his family is working the plantation.

“Our family depends on the plantation so much for food and we also sell some of our cocoa and if enough.

“I am not working in a fancy job right now but working our plantation day in day out is the only thing I’m doing right now to support my family.”

Mr. Pelasia said he enjoyed what he does for his family and himself.

“I love doing what I do because that’s my contribution for my family during this hard life from supporting them food from the plantation.

“I also enjoyed what I’m doing in making use of the land that we have so to plant crops on it to assist us with this hard life we have come to.

“Another reason I really do enjoyed this work that I do here is that I treated it as an exercise coming and working here back and forth to release the stress.”

Mr. Pelasia also added that life we have today is not like walking around the park.

“Life here we have today is a tough one and we have to work hard but not just sitting around and waiting for miracles to happen.

“Samoan families have land to work on and that’s something we are blessed with apart from other countries.

“Let’s get to work and trust the Lord to lead us through this hard life and we make sure that he will lead us together.”
