The Land and Titles Court has two new Vice Presidents.

They are Moananu Tuasivi Setu and Mulipola Iosefo.

They took their oath before Chief Justice, His Honour Patu Tiava’asu’e Falefatu Sapolu last week.

The C.E.O. of the Ministry of Justice and Courts Administration, Papali’i John Taimalelagi, said Moananu and Mulipola were recommended by the Judiciary Service Commission.

“Two of our Vice Presidents for the Land and Titles Court have retired. They were Misa Pita Anae and Faamausili Solo Brown,” he said.

“So the position had been vacant from then on until now.

“Moananu and Mulipola were our Samoan judges until they were chosen to be Vice Presidents.

“They commenced their appointment as recommended by the Judiciary of the Government, which began on 7 March this year.

“The swearing in of the position of Vice Presidents, under the law, it is just the appointees and the Chief Justice, so it was just the two of them inside the Courtroom where they were being sworn in.

“Their selection was approved by the Head of State after the recommendation was given to him by the Judiciary. So that’s what happened.”

According to Papalii, the new Vice Presidents have been serving the Judiciary for more than 10 years.

“They were former Judges of the Lands and Titles Courts and they have been serving for more than 10 years,” he said.
