Police find marijuana at Savalalo

An 18 year old was caught by the police on Thursday carrying marijuana in his pocket.

Police spokesman, Su’a said the 18 year old is being charged with possession of narcotics and he is scheduled to appear in court on the 6th of February.

In a different matter, a police raid at the Flea Market at Savalalo on Friday afternoon, caught four people who are now in custody.

“They are all male one is 36 years old from Laulii, the other one is 40 from Sauano Fagaloa, the other is 37 from Vaiusu and the last one is 42 from faatoia,” said Su’a.

Su’a said three of these men were in jail before, for the same crime of possession of narcotics.

They are all awaiting their court appearance on the 13th of February for mention.

In a further matter, a 35 year old man from the village of Alafua is being charged for theft as a servant.

According to Su’a the 35 year old was working at Central Oil at Taufusi. “He was looking after the company because the owners are based in Australia,” said the Police Spokesperson.

“When the owners returned, they saw that the accused hadn’t paid the company taxes.

“When they investigated the matter they found that the accused only paid part of the taxes so they went to the police.

“According to reports, the accused stole an amount of $6,511.30 and only paid $9,115.90.

The accused is now on bail awaiting his court appearance on the 13th of February.
