The 20 year milestone reached by the National Bank of Samoa, is one to be emulated in our business community which has undergone its fair share of economic ups and downs.

From the visionaries who founded the bank; to the investors, the directors and board members; the staff and most of all those who entrusted their savings, last Friday was a moment to take pride in what has been achieved thus far.

It is also time to look ahead with timely changes under the Chief Executive Officer, Amaramo Sialaoa who, two years ago, was the first Samoan to take the top job at a bank.

The bank opened its first branch at Greg Meredith’s building in Tamaligi and the first board meeting was held at George Meredith’s office.

The Asia Development Bank provided technical assistance in management and training for the first banking system.

N.B.S. employs 85 people including staff in Savai’i.

It has five branches located at Tamaligi, Vaitele, the Accident Compensation Corporation building, Manase and Salelologa, Savai’i.
