Rome wasn’t built in a day.

So you can’t expect to create great things in a short period of time.

The opinion was expressed by Ieti Amina of Levi Saleimoa regarding his ongoing work to develop his banana patch.

The 41 year old farmer is really passionate about what he does and he was on his way back from the plantation when the Village Voice team approached him.

“I went to check on my plantation, it’s not really a big one or a huge one but it’s my own,” he told the Village Voice.

“At the moment, I only have bananas planted in there but I hope to grow more crops in the future.

“I guess I’m focusing on bananas right now because I see that the market for other crops have increased especially taro.

“That’s why I prefer bananas right now; I mean most people in my village are rich when it comes to taro supplies because there’s a lot.

“A lot of plantations I have seen looked well developed but my one isn’t, because honestly I’m just starting.

“That’s why I always need to go there everyday because there’s work that needs to be done so it can look like a beautiful plantation one day.

“Everything takes time so hopefully one day I will get to that professional level.

Ieti told Village Voice that his wife also works for the family.

“We have three children so of course the both of us need to work or do something useful to support the family.

“Our children are still too young to be attending school so the best thing to do now, is to try our best to save all the money we can earn from our work for their education in the near future.

“That is life; you always got to stay prepared for what’s coming.

“Well for me, I like to stay prepared because I don’t like surprises.”
