Bringing in the New Year with a bang was the goal of the Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Gold Masquerade Party of the year that attracted more than 300 people.

Sheraton’s Food and Beverages Director, Lukaz Nowaskowski said the idea was from certain individuals who wanted to host an event that would be “different.”

And different is what they did.

“The whole point was to create parties in different tiers that people can actually join and choose which package they want,” he said.

“That is what we have done."

“We offered gold and platinum packages and other packages, we made sure the all the packages available had something for everyone."

“And our targeted audience is everyone."

“We are a hotel and we cater to tourists and locals."

“We also have our local group that always spend the weekends here utilizing our double trouble promotion."

“That was our target,” he said.

He told the Samoa Observer they sold more tickets than anticipated.

“I think we did very well with promotion of this event.”

He said the whole idea was for the locals to come eat, drink and enjoy.

“We created this to attract the local market,” he said.

“This time of year most of our guests are Samoans who are here to spend the holidays with families and they opt to stay with us, so they are locals as well and are our targeted audience,” he added.

He said the brains behind the event were Corey Keil, Etu Tusitala and Mateo Catanuto and their wives.

Mr. Caranuto said: “It started off as just a group of friends getting together and planned to have a party the way we want and how we want it.

“That’s where we thought of sharing the fun and entertainment with other people and then the planning started.

“From the drinks to the menu, the disc jockey, the decorations and then when we picked the venue, we didn’t think twice about hosting at the Sheraton’s Lobby.

“A five-star hotel, why not?” he said.

Mr. Keil told the Samoa Observer there were other options for the venue, but with the theme, there is no other better place than the Sheraton.

“Right now we’re broadcasting live on Magic FM, we sold a lot of tickets,” said Mr. Keil.

Andre Lock of New Jersey who attended the party was impressed.

“I was expecting an islander type of party, but this party is even better,” he said smiling.

He thanked the organizers for the party, saying that it should be held at a bigger venue.
