PR - Baha’is from Samoa and American Samoa are gathering at Tiapapata to strengthen their understanding of the current development needs of society and the role of an individual, community and institutions.

They represent various local, regional and national institutions of the faith and will consult on how to advance the spiritual and material progress of their communities, while fostering higher levels of unity among an ever-widening circle of friends. On the agenda will be the core activities, which are increasingly being implemented in Samoa and the world: the training institute (study circles involving the systematic study of the Baha’i faith), children’s classes, the junior youth empowerment program, and devotional gatherings.

The purpose of the training institute is to assist individuals to deepen their understanding of Baha’i teachings, and to gain spiritual insights and practical skills they need to carry out the work of the community.

The nature of the training institute can be understood by imagining an ongoing conversation taking place among friends in thousands upon thousands of social spaces— neighborhoods, villages, schools, universities, and workplaces.

In response to the materials that the participants study and with support from their institutions, they will be able to carry out specific acts of service. According to a statement from Baha’i, people from all walks of life will recognise that they have power in their hands to re-create the world around them.

As more and more people become committed to the vision of individual and collective transformation fostered by the institute courses, capacity is gradually built in the community to reflect a pattern of life that places at its heart service and worship.
