Cops find 245 joints on man from Savai’i

A 26-year-old man from Savai’i will remain in police custody until 23 May when he will appear in Court. The accused man was arrested on 6 May around 7pm after he was suspected to be carrying marijuana joints. 

According to Police Spokesperson, Maotaoalii Kaioneta Kitiona, there were 245 marijuana joints found on the accused. 

Maotaoalii added that another male of the same age was charged with possession of narcotics on the following day. 

Police found one joint of marijuana on him and he too is in custody until his court mention on the 23rd of May.

Possession of narcotics is one of the major offences in Samoa. 

The maximum penalty for such offence if found guilty is not exceeding 14 years imprisonment.
