A mother's proudest moment
Seeing her daughter walk to receive her dux award was the proudest moment for Fuafiva Apulu Iopu, a single mother from Eva.
Her daughter, Briannatasha Apulu, was named dux of Year 8 at Salelesi Primary School, an accomplishment that has filled their home and hearts with joy.
For Iopu, the achievement is a testament to Briannatasha's commitment.
Iopu described Briannatasha's daily routine and study habits as religious. She said, "Briannatasha was always honest in her assignments."
As a single mother, Fuafiva’s pride carries personal meaning, rooted in the challenges and responsibilities she shoulders on her own.
Iopu’s reaction highlights the emotional significance of the milestone, both for the student who earned it and for the mother who supported her throughout her primary school years.
“Everything I achieve comes from dedication, prayer, and never giving up. I want to make my family and community proud by always giving my best," said Briannatasha.
The student now looks forward to the next step in her academic career. She said she was grateful that she had her mother's support along the way, making even the most difficult times feel like a breeze.
She said her journey had just begun and hoped that her mother would stand by her for the challenges in the future.
Iopu said her life's ambition was to see Briannatasha succeed and she was willing to be part of that journey. She said nothing would make her happier than seeing her daughter become successful.
She said this was best Christmas gift she could ask for.
