It takes courage to report both sides

Dear Editor

Re: Such a terribly meaning statement is unbecoming of you

I applaud the Samoa Observer for being able to be observant and report both sides. I don’t always agree with the reported spin on certain topics but it takes a courageous paper to report both sides especially in this era of oppressive government censorship of free speech in Samoa as has become so evidently clear with the arrest of King Faipopo.

At least now we know who we are dealing with on the government side, a very vindictive and sensitive and “kagivale” leader who has no compassion for the people, hides all the bad news and wants everyone to celebrate the “idiotic” work done by this underperforming government.

Just look at the numbers from the Asian Development Bank. Samoa’s projected growth for 2018..... 0.5%.

That was like below the Micronesian States and the majority of island nations in the Pacific excluding NZ and Australia.

Samoa’s economy sucks for lack of a better word.

And we would never see these numbers were it not for the ADB’s own website which has published growth projections, GDP comparisons, and evidence of Samoa’s economic malaise for all to see.

So keep up the good work Samoa Observer. O ou mama na.

On the issue of La’auli, the decision I’m sure was not an easy one for La’auli.

We applaud him and Olo for their courage to stand in the face of the beast, which is Tuilaepa and his HRPP party.

That is the sign of bravery and commitment.

Will the political scenery remain this desolate for opposition members of Parliament? I would think the tide would turn. It always does.

We have two years to see. As a fellow opponent to the current oppressive regime I say stay strong La’auli and Olo. Two years is a long time and many things can happen.
