Get rid of amateurs in Samoan rugby

Dear Editor,

Re: Samoan rugby’s sagging fortunes

They say if “you snooze, you lose” and islander teams should realise that by now.

We used to have a remarkable S.R.U. under the stewardship of Sir Michael Fay and his team of professionals and high profile sponsors were lining up for the opportunity to be associated with Manu and S.R.U.

That’s not the case right now with Stui and S.R.U., there’s no credibility in the organisation because of corruption and therefore, million dollar sponsors we used to get under the stewardship of Sir Michael Fay don’t want their image tarnished by such crowd.

S.R.U.’s main source of income now is mainly from S.I.F.A and Stui is proud of it.

I think that is his main focus in S.R.U., is to find some legitimate purpose for S.I.F.A. and is costing the organization credibility and bona fide status in the world of professionalism.

Stui is a barrier to progress in the professional era of rugby and S.R.U. board should do something about it.

Get rid of amateurs and their penchant to rely on donations and fill the place up with professionals who can attract sponsorship with credible companies.
