The outcome when poverty takes a hold

Dear Editor,

Re: Blame the parents

It’s easy to point the stick to the parents because obviously they are the immediate blame, and it’s so convenient to do so.

But this is a symptom of a bigger problem.

The real question is, what brought them into this mess in the first place?

This wasn’t an issue in the past.

What happened?

This is not to discredit those hard working parents, but the reality is, poverty has hit our shores, our cultural values are slowly dismantling, the list goes on and these poor parents are certainly not the first tile to the domino.

Most of them are trapped in a system where they are forced to do the unthinkable.

Your lack of sympathy is probably a reflection of how our society has turned out to be; blinded by economic and political agendas while the rich gets richer, and the poor are being dragged along.
