Leading by example

Dear Editor,

It was published in the Samoa Observer at the beginning of this month for public awareness a development consent from Planning and Urban Management Agency, regarding the new development to relocate Mynas Mini Mart and Bakery at Vaoala.

I witness the development now under construction respectively.

In my personal understanding, the current location and Myna’s supermarket and carpark will surely affect the Government plans to widen the Cross Island Road from Tanugamanono to Siumu in the coming months or years.

It is with due understanding that Myna’s investment venture is duly owned by a current Member of Parliament and a Cabinet Minister.

Myna’s investment management did not wait until government plans to take place for them to action, which will surely result in substantial claims for disturbance in business course or any other considerable grounds.

I’m certain it is a wise move for Myna’s in the eyes of the business wellbeing however it comes with great cost to the venture.

My point here, Myna’s will continue to achieve greatness and business success if they continue to operate on its current location as noticed now and in the past. However the Minister and his respective company should lead by example, action now instead of waiting for the government to stroke and see what is there to offer and to claim.

It is very rare to find this kind of political mentality herein Samoa, especially when you hold the ministerial power to precede things your way comfortably. After all it is so good to finally see the Prime Minister famous words in action. “It’s not about what the government does for you it’s what you do for the government matters”.

Keep up the great work Unasa. You inspired many.
