Focus on the poor

Dear Editor,

Re: Driven by love and desperation

This is very sad that these kids have no future at all.

How can a system like ours fail like this? What is the govt. doing to help with these families? Are churches supposed to help these poor families regardless if they’re members of their churches or not?

If there’s anything that the churches should be doing to make use of their tax free status is to try and reach out to these families and help them out in ways that will benefit them.

The business of saving souls should be taking the back seat but help them with their temporal needs first. This world is not perfect but the societal acceptance of this disregard is beyond me. The system of govt. with the help of churches to provide a safety net for the unfortunate should be the crux of their humanitarian efforts to root out poverty and homelessness.

Instead, the churches and govt. are covering each others backs by not addressing these issues but stay silent of the most basic needs of our people.

The business of making money in the name of God should be dismantled and focused on the need of the poor.
