It’s a safe vaccine

Re: Keep researching the benefits

The MMR is an extremely safe vaccine.

There have been rare instances in the past when through human error the vaccine has been reconstituted incorrectly, for instance someone used a vial of an anaesthetic agent instead of water.

That does not point to issues with the vaccine, but a failure of correct care in preparing the injections by the team performing the vaccinations.

Meryl Dorey is a committed and rabid antivaccine propagandist, and Samoans would be wise to take everything she says with a pinch of salt. It must be remembered that in the 1890s, around 5-10% of Samoans died from measles, when it was introduced into the vulnerable, non-immune population.

People like Dorey wish to turn the clock back to those times, and it seems she wishes everyone to suffer from infections like measles, and would no doubt be dismissive of the huge morbidity and mortality that ensued.
