Talk about the need to “Keep calm and carry on”.

Can someone whisper this mantra to the P.M. who seems to have set upon a new way of combating unpalatable news?

Apologies sir,  but getting grumpy  about bad news is not a solution.

Yes we all know that strategy you use when under fire for ridiculous spending of taxes, not being accountable, etc etc). You then announce some other piece of news to divert attention away.

However the latest accusation against the media of using “fabricated and stale footage” (see story Jan 15 Sunday Samoan), takes the cake.

You need to look at the date/time on the image footage before raving on.

Perhaps you could get your driver to stop your car in Apia in the evening as you speed you off to one of the interminable functions you attend; speak to business people who operate after hours and have given up on the police, and learn what is a real, current and ongoing problem. 

Then pick up that famous phone when you get to your office next day, bark out some commands to the relevant department (Police?) and insist they put some recruits on foot patrol at night at the NPF Plaza and down by the wharf and stop pretending the problem does not exist.
