Man accused of alleged ice smuggling changes lawyer
A man accused of smuggling ice estimated to be worth $60,000 into the country has changed his lawyer.
Unasa Iuni Sapolu is now representing drug defendant, Tafuna Tauialo.
The drugs Tauialo is accused of smuggling in were intercepted at the Faleolo International Airport last month.
According to the Police, the drugs were allegedly found by the Police and the Customs K9 Unit in a suitcase that belongs to the accused.
The defendant, who lives in Alaska and was visiting Samoa, faces drug charges of possession of narcotics.
During his criminal mention before Supreme Court Justice Leiataualesa Darryl Clarke, Tauialo’s lawyer, Unasa, informed the Court that Mauga Precious Chang will no longer represent him.
The application was granted by Leiataualesa.
Police Superintendent, Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo said the drugs weighed around 26.6grams.
