Police have reported the discovery of human bones and skeletons on the beach near Saanapu village.

The police forensic Unit has moved the remains to the Motootua National Hospital for further investigation.

It is believed the remains belong to an adult male and adult female.

Preliminary search of police records confirms that there are no missing persons report from that part of the island. Police investigations are continuing. 

In other reports the Motootua National Hospital has advised police of a young man who was admitted to the hospital unconscious and later died.

Police initial investigation indicates that the deceased was transported to the hospital by unidentified men who found him lying in-front of the Samoa Shipping Cooperation Office at Matautu-tai.

The deceased did not have any identification on him except for a cellular phone, which police traced and were able to get his identification.

The deceased is Fa’agata Alaga, male, 25 years of age from Samata-tai and Falelauniu.

A postmortem is scheduled to be done to determine the cause of death. 

The police are also investigating two cases of negligent driving causing bodily injury.

The incidents occurred at Fa’atoia and Poutasi. Both victims were admitted and later released from the hospital.
