By Matai'a Lanuola Tusani T - Ah Tong 21 October 2021, 8:04PM

Cabinet is considering a policy to make the Legislative Assembly financially independent from the Prime Minister in favor of an independent body designed to safeguard the Pariament's independence, the Samoa Observer can reveal.

The policy change would result in the creation of a new and independent entity with the power to scrutinise the Legislative Assembly’s budget, which was previously a power held exclusively by the executive arm of Government.
