Hundreds of people from all walks of life took to Beach Road yesterday to march for suicide prevention.

Hosted by the Fa’ataua O le Ola, the parade started from the Fire Station making its way in front of the government Building.

There, Bishop Denny Fa’alogo, of F.L.O, encouraged everyone to make the right choice when it comes to suicide.

“This is the day to celebrate the importance of our lives,” he said.

“So I am urging you all to make the right the choice and choose with God.”

“If you choose together with God, then your choices will be right and know that your life is very important.”

Executive Director of Fa’ataua Le Ola, Papali’i Carol Ah Chong, said the day was not only about tackling suicide but it was to celebrate the gift of life.

“In commemorating this   day around the world our message to the people is that life is a gift from God,” she said.

“As bishop said this morning choose together with God and make the right choice.”

“So not only we are here to honour those who have passed because of suicide but we are here to celebrate the gift of life.”

“God gave us life and therefore He is the only one who decides when he will take it away so I want to encourage everyone out there to make sure that your life is a gift from God.”

“We should embrace it as long as we live don’t waste your life but make use of it.”

Chairman of Fa’ataua o le Ola, Hans Joachim Keil, thanked everyone who participated.

“This is a very important day for global suicide awareness.”

“To all the schools that are here and also the teachers who are here this morning, thank you very much for all your support.”

“As Bishop Denny said let us make the right the choice and if you are ever in trouble or thinking of doing something just give us a call on 800-5433 and we will help you.”
