Church to hold marriage seminar

Faithfulness and commitment will be the highlight of a three-night marriage seminar this week.

To be held at the Peace Chapel, Vaimea from August 27-29, the event will begin at 6:30pm to nine o’clock and is organised by Every Home for Christ.

Pastor Morgan Gegera said this event allows couples to renew their vows in church and understand the importance of why being faithful to their partners is important.

“If parents are not faithful to each other then it affects their children’s social life, education and other aspects of their lives,” Pastor Morgan said.

“A strong nation is built on a family that is intact, and for that to happen parents need to be faithful to each other.”

The inter-denominational organisation is also calling on the young people to maintain their purity until marriage.

“There’s no need to go and compromise your purity,” Pastor Morgan said.

“There is so much happening within the family, within the home and because of that our organisation decided to put together a marriage seminar, which we started last year.”

Pastor Morgan said there is a need for this event and this is a way for them to contribute to building a better society.

“Samoa is a very Christian and religious nation, people go to church but it does not mean they don’t have problems at home, they go back home and there is so much chaos, arguments, fighting, frictions, immorality and we’re living in such a time where sexual crimes perpetrated by young people is increasing,” he said.

“We have statistics to prove that in the past sexual crimes were perpetrated by older people, but because of the digital age that we now live in, young people are exposed to all sorts of information and bad videos.”

The event, which is open to the public, will feature two speakers - Asia Pacific Regional Director, Pastor Manasa Korovuso and successful business entrepreneur in American Samoa, Pastor Barry Forsgren.
