Ford Ranger goes to Lisa Keil
The hunt for the winner of the Bluesky Ford Ranger is finally over - Lisa Keil of Moto’otua has won the vehicle.
The texting competition was open to Bluesky customers, who were invited to text the word “MANU” and drive home in a brand new Ford Ranger on the day of the Super Nine Finals. A text message cost 99 cents and all text messages went into a draw with Lisa coming out the winner.
On top of that Bluesky also gave the Manu Samoa 7’s team a cheque of $127,113.03 – which was raised as part of the texting competition.
BlueSky Samoa’s country manager, Toleafoa Douglas Creevey, said the cash donation that was made to the team was for their preparations for the upcoming tournament.
“Bluesky is already the local sponsor for the sevens for the Samoan Rugby Union which includes the Hong Kong Shanghai Bank (H.S.B.C.) International circuit, but the international sevens world cup this year is an additional tournament that was not included,” he said.
“The Samoa Rugby Union had to seek support for an additional fundraising to support the world cup tournament outside of our normal sponsorship agreement so it was no problem we got together, and did this and we only had eight weeks to be able to run the promotion and proceeds of the tournament were handed over to the rugby union.”
He said Bluesky ran the texting competition, promoted it and did the draw yesterday. All proceeds were given to Samoa Rugby Union.
“Well it is very important that this is the only way to get some national pride and some national contributions notably, it is the only the Bluesky customers and we are we encouraging people to get behind Bluesky so that we can all support our national team,” he added.
“They are in need of a lot of support after the results from a couple of seasons. We are doing our best to get behind our team to assist them so that they can achieve their goals, although we are the primary sponsor for the rugby sevens. We have also been called in to assist with 15s for example the game with Germany.”
Toleafoa acknowledged and thanked their customers for getting behind the competition and supporting the boys in blue.
