Anoamaa College crowned boxing champions
Anoamaa College has bagged 15 gold medals at the Inter-College Boxing Competition and are the champions of the college-focused tournament.
The college announced its success at the recent tournament in a post on its Facebook page, declaring that they fought the good fight and won.
"Our hearts are full of gratitude and thanksgiving because of the results that our college has successfully finished such a tough competition,” read the Facebook post.
“But first and foremost, all glory and praise go back to the man above for giving us strength in order for our students to carry out their work.”
The college also acknowledged the support of the school principal and everyone who was behind them as they made their way to the competition on Monday.
"Thank you to our madam Principal and her Deputy Principal, especially the support from our staff, our school, and most especially the parents. They made this very easy for us."
"Also thank you to our trainers for making time to come over to our school and teach the students about the skills and techniques of boxing.
“But on top of all this, we want to thank the students that participated and walked away with medals, thank you for making our school proud, and for putting all your efforts and your heart into the sport so that we can put Anoamaa's name on the boxing boards."
The Anoamaa College team claimed 15 gold, 10 silver and six trophies from the competition while the Vaimauga College claimed five gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze as well as one trophy.
It is understood a number of students from Anoamaa College who are active members of boxing clubs in Samoa were able to represent their school in the tournament on Monday. Attempts by the Samoa Observer to get a comment from the schools involved as well as the Boxing Federation was unsuccessful as of press time.
