Youth assist Home of Elderly Mapuifagalele
The Home of the Elderly at Mapuifagalele has received a donation of $2000 cash together with food and products tailor-made for the elderly courtesy of the Apia Vicariate Youth.
The youth group led by Father Paulo Afamasaga also lent a helping hand by cleaning the campus which is the residence of the elderly on Saturday.
The President of Apia Vicariate youth, Joseph Kapisi told the Samoa Observer that donating to the elderly at Mapuifagalele was a part of their Galuega Alofa.
"During the Lenten season as it is known to our church, there's always that project we called Galuega Alofa," he said. "Where we visit the places where nuns and our church members are working and we give our donations."
Despite being late this year with their youth's Galuega Alofa, they decided to visit the Home of the Elderly on Saturday before the celebrations of Pentecost Day or the celebration of the Catholic Church's birthday.
The visiting youth members said they were inspired and had the heart to give with all the love they had for the elderly people and Catholic church ministers.
Youth members hope that their donation will be a big help to support the needs of elderly as well as provide for their daily meals at the carer's facility.
