A former Lupe o le Soaga Maagiagi rugby player has donated new rugby jerseys, warm-up uniforms and socks to his former team.

The sporting attire were donated to the team by Reverend Toosavili Tua of the Maagiagi E.F.K.S. and Luafau Seumanutafa on Saturday morning on behalf of former player Anitelea Pesa.

A prayer of thanksgiving was held at Maagiagi by Rev Toosavili before the presentation of the team's jerseys to be used in the shield game on Saturday with Maagiagi taking on SCB Apia Maroons.

During the presentation of the uniform kits, Mr Luafau encouraged the team to win the shield game and give it their best in order to show their appreciation for the uniform kit donation by their former player.

"One of our sons has gifted you boys with these fantastic uniforms. Anitelea has provided such a gift for you and you must give back to him by playing your best today at the field," he said.

Reverend Toosavili also encouraged the team to play with the ball and remember the sacrifice and the gift from their former team mate.

"You must win the game to honor Anitelea, his wife, and his family for their kind donation to the team,” he said.

“Bring home the shield, Anitelea has done his job and you must give Anitelea the results he wants.

“If our sons overseas see how much you boys have progressed then I'm sure they will be more than willing to help in any way possible.

“Anitelea is the first this year to donate, maybe others will follow if they see the results.”

In a statement issued to the media, Pesa said that the uniform is a gift from him and his family to the team that he has previously played with.

"The uniform is my wife and my kid's gift to the rugby team that I have served for previous years. May God bless Lupe o le Soaga with all their upcoming games.

“Regards from my family to the brothers, the management and the church minister.”
