The church should apologise

Dear Editor,

Re: Reinstate Rev. Afereti

I don’t know how the machinations in the upper echelons of the church work but I do agree with Tuutuu that the Reverend had suffered greatly from the great injustice meted to him.

The only trouble is somebody has already been appointed, too hastily in my view, to the position of church secretary.

At the very least the church should publish a public apology to the Reverend and his family for all the hurt, angst, shame, and loss of reputation - (all not deserved) resulting from the dismissal.

As men of God, this is the correct action to take. Humility and acknowledgement of mistakes are lessons faifea’u’s have taught us as words of gospel from the bible. Failure to do this would send the wrong messages to the congregations of the faithful, namely that do as we (the faifea’u’s) say but not do as we do. The good reverend should be reappointed to a position within the church commensurate with his years of dedicated service to CCCS.

Ma lo’u fa’aaloalo lava.
