A former officer in charge of a Police outpost in Savai’i appeared in the Supreme Court this week for sex-related charges.

Sergeant Reupena Oloapu, who was in charge of the Fagamalo police station, is facing three sex-related charges.

He is accused of sexual offences on another female colleague during the time he was a law enforcement officer.

The defendant was represented by Leinafo Taimalelagi Strickland.

His lawyer had asked for an adjournment so she can obtain instruction from her client.

Attorney General’s Office lawyer Lucy Sio Ofoia was the prosecutor.

The matter was called before Justice Fepuleai Ameperosa Roma.

It has been adjourned until Monday next week for the defence counsel to obtain instructions.

Mr. Oloapu is remanded on bail pending his next appearance.

He was amongst 39 defendants who were listed on the criminal mention this week to have their matters scheduled for hearing and to enter pleas to charges against them.
