The time of their lives

Couple, Brandy Cochane and Joey Diamond, is having the time of their life in Samoa.

For the pair, spending time together, relaxing and enjoying the weather, are reasons that make everything perfect for them here.

“It is good, it feels a little bit different to the other end of the island, but still very relaxed,” Joey told the Dear Tourist team of his impression of Apia.

It’s Brandy’s first time in Samoa whereas Joey has been here before when he was a child with his family.

“I don’t remember a lot just that we had then a very good time. It has been beautiful,” Joey said.

“It is very nice and beautiful, the people are really nice here,” Brandy said.

Why Samoa?

“I think part of it was that Joey came here with his family before and the family their whole faces light up every time they talk about Samoa, what a great trip they had and how they loved riding the buses and meeting the people.”

“So we have been thinking of somewhere to go that would be relaxing, something other than places that are busy. We like those places as well, but we need to go and relax,” Brandy said.

 “We both love swimming.”

Brandy and Joey are staying at the Samoan Outrigger Hotel in Apia. They also stayed at Lalomanu, which Brandy describes as really lovely.

“Probably just swimming in the beautiful ocean and the snorkeling is the highlight of our stay so far.”

“The food is really good, the oka for example. We had some taro chips, but not a lot of the normal ones yet. We had Chinese food that was very good. Everywhere has been really yummy, I have been well fed on this trip,” Brandy added.

They prefer Samoa the way it is.

“I think we had everything we needed. We got a guidebook as well.”

“The only issue was that things were  closed, which we knew about, but for some reason forgot. It took us a little while to find a restaurant out there.”

“If we need anything everybody has been very helpful. The dogs haven’t been bothering us, they just walk away,” Joey said.

“It feels special and if you try to change too much for tourism, I guess that would be when it would lose that a bit. It is nice now; it is kind of in the middle. I would say it is a really good balance,” Brandy explained.

They haven’t seen a lot of the villages so far, but they are definitely going to a church in Savai’i for a bit more island experience.

“Everything has been really good and we are happy to come here. We are already planning our next stay here. It is such a nice place and it feels special, it is not too busy,” Joey said.
