The Faleata Rugby Union has announced their team for the "King of Tens" tournament set to kick off on Saturday at the A.C.P. St Joseph's Stadium in Lotopa.

The President of the Faleata Rugby Union, Leuluaialii Aiono Tony Aiono, said the club will start their season anew by fielding a team for the tournament before moving on to select their 15-a-side team.

"Yes, our Kings of Ten will start tomorrow (Saturday) at Lotopa, we have 12 teams who have signed up for this tournament. We have some new teams and we also have our returning teams," he said.

"Our major sponsor Vailima Breweries is once again coming forward to support our tournament. We are encouraging our local players and young talent to participate and showcase their talents.

"Our draw has already been posted up by our committees on our social media account (Facebook). We are looking forward to a successful tournament."

Last year, Marist St Joseph's were crowned as the King of Tens after defeating Lepea, 7 - 0.

"We are expecting a great season this year, however, we are still keeping at the back of our heads the state of emergency orders that Samoa is still in. So we do everything while listening to all the restrictions of this pandemic the world is currently in," Leuluaialii said.

With both of last year's finalists, Marist and Lepea, returning this year, Leuluaialii is expecting a hard-fought tournament. In 2020, Marist won all four rounds of the King of Tens and won the Prime Minister's Cup.

The tournament will be run for four weeks, and it will feature 12 teams. They are Marist St Joseph's 1, Seesee, Lepea Village, Taufusi Eels 2, Alafua Raiders USP, Malie Sharks 1, Vaigaga 1, Falelauniu, Vailoa, Malie Sharks 2, Vaitele West Tigers, and Taufusi Eels 1.
