P.M. should read his Bible properly

Dear Editor,

Re: P.M. and government taxes

I think the P.M. should go and read the bible.

Yes Jesus did pay the tax but it wasn’t a government tax it was the “temple tax” or “Church tax.” (Read Mathew 17:24-27).

So in fact everyone in Samoa should be taxed by Churches and not the government. The moral of the bible story here is that if you follow the instructions given by Christ you will also get lucky (If you go fishing you will find a gold coin in the fishes mouth).

I think the government should think about this very seriously so instead of increasing the taxes even more, (in plain English,) GO AND DO SOME WORK. REAL WORK!

Now the “give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” There is no Caesar in Samoa (or anywhere in the world.) Caesar has been dead long time ago. So nothing in Samoa belongs to Caesar only to Samoans. (Unless the PM is living an illusion that he is Caesar.)

Now the pastor paying tax:

If I earn $160 Tala a week I will be taxed $40 Tala and give it to the government. So I am left with $120 Tala

So if I am feeling guilty this week because last week I donated nothing I will “donate” $40 Tala to the Pastor. Why should the government tax that $40 Tala again that I am donating to the pastor when I have already paid my taxes?

Now the Romans 13 King James Version reads:

“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers.

For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.”

I suggest to the P.M. to read the King James Version rather than the false translation he is trying to fool himself with.
