Monday brawl stops traffic at Taufusi
A video of a fight between several men at Taufusi on Monday has surfaced.
It showed how the fight stopped traffic with motorists narrowly avoiding being hit by bottles and objects thrown as part of the brawl.
Questions sent to the Samoa Police Services on Tuesday to see if anyone has been charged in relation to the melee have not bee responded to.
But the video sighted by the Samoa Observer shows young and elderly men being involved in the fight. One man wearing lavalava was armed with what appeared to be a 2x4 piece of timber.
The video also showed two men throwing punches in the middle of the road while shocked motorists looked on.
Ronald Lam, who looks after a shop in Taufusi, told the Samoa Observer the incident took place at around 6pm Monday. He suspects that alcohol was involved.
Mr. Lam and his wife had done shopping and were heading to Taumeasina when they saw what was happening.
"I saw one elder that was dragging a young fellow who was so drunk," he said.
"We passed by and then I saw another drunk man who was trying to be put into a taxi and they were probably trying to take him to the hospital or whatever they were trying to do but he did not want to go because his face was bad, there was blood all over the face but he didn't want to go."
The video of the fight emerges at a time when the Police have been urging members of the public to be responsible especially when it comes to the consumption of alcohol.
