A young girl who wants to become a doctor has made her parents and families very proud by finishing top of the school at Magiagi Primary.

Talaleu Serafina Toleafoa, the daughter of Mimisa Toleafoa and Tuipulotu Hini Toleafoa, of Magiagi and Saipipi, was announced the school's dux during the prize giving ceremony on Wednesday.

Speaking to the Samoa Observer, the bright youngster said she was grateful to God for his guidance throughout the year.

And while she wants to become a doctor in the future, her focus will shift to Pesega College for the next academic year. This is the school she said she wants to attend.

"I want to become a doctor to help out our country," she said.

Her mother, Mimisa Toleafoa, said she was extremely proud of her daughter.

"We couldn’t have done it without the Lord’s protection and guidance," she said.

“Praise the Lord for everything He has done through our kids."

She acknowledges the hard work of the teachers and everyone who helped in her daughter's education.

"But as parents, we are very proud and very grateful to the Lord," she said.
