Samoa Sevens National Trials teams named

The Manu Samoa sevens training squad has been divided into four teams as they prepare for the Samoa Sevens National Trials next week Thursday and Friday at the Apia Park Stadium.

The four coaches from the Samoa Invest Lakapi Championship will also be coaching the four teams. Not only the men but the women have also been divided into three teams.

The Savaii squad is Gordon Langkilde, Miracle Faiilagi, Kirisimasi Tiumalu, Taunuu Niulevaea, Enosa Auvaa, Des Sepulona, Billy Hugo, Malo Luteru, Mark Kolio, Malu Falaniko, Laaloi Leilua, and Phillipe Toelupe. Their team is coached by Mr Matamua Junior Salima and managed by Su'a Hesed Ieremia.

The Apolima squad is Vaafauese Apelu, Mark Tusigaigoa, PJ Leuluaialii, Tupu Tavae, Lemisio Tovio, Melani Matavao, Tila Mealoi, Paul Scanlan, Taualai Panoa, Owen Niue Fetu, Moomoo Falaniko, and Naturo Salatielu. Their coach is Mailo Potu Leavasa and manager is Fainuulelei James Ah Wai.

The Manono squad is Theodore MacFarland, Tipaula Sapeti, Uaina Sione, Joephi Pama Kalolo, Iakopo Selausene, Steve Rimoni, Perosi Taupo, Lomiga Fatu, Ueta Avaotuna, Paul Eti Slater, Tuna Tuitama, and Toa Faitui. Their coach is Galumalemana Rudolf Moors and their manager is Mataafa Saeni Leatupue.

And the Upolu squad is East Timor Viliamu, Malo Tiumalu Soo, Elia Tumatavai, Faafou Amate, Liahona Vaegaau, David Tavita, Neueli Leutufia, Faafoi Falaniko, Alofa Luteru, Faafouina Loau, Joe Perez, and Bright Tapenko. Their head coach is Ms Filoi Eneliko and their manager is Sharay Aiafi.

As for the women teams, Tilafaiga is Perise Tumutumu, Charity Leiataua, Marelda Collins, Rebirth Paulo, Pearl Silipa, Fuarosa Niusila, Marie Kaisa, Faalua Lefulefu, Elisapeta Leti, Faaoge Tanielu, Afioga Opapo, Mariota Fiu, and Maria Tomasi. Their head coach is Soonalote Sefo and their manager is Tui Unasa.

The Taema squad is Saelua Seleti, Fogamanono Sila, Litia Nuu, Tiffany Tanuvasa, Oketopa Faafua, Fuatele Toso, Fiavae Laititi, Linda Fiafia, Sydney Pelenato, Fofoga Vaa, Faye Sinei, Maria Iosefo, and Fetuleni Fagalilo. Their coach is Seifono Misili and their manager is Sam Ah Sam.

And lastly, the Nafanua squad is Lomi Mulipola, Arasi Ieremia, Alofa Sopoaga, Opeta Toala, Dee Matai, Utumoa Alalatoa, Suliando Lafai, Ruhama Leiataua, Luana Alefosio, Inalei Laulu, Cynthia Faalogo, Pe'a Asiasiga, and Rosalia Siaki. Their head coach is Toluiva Keneti and their manager is Saimaauga Niulevaea.

More than 10 from the Manu Samoa Wider squad has not made it into the teams, however, 16 other players have secured a spot in the four squads.

The 13 players who have not been selected include Andrew Wulf, Elisapeta Alofipo, Emani Peniamina, Faletoa Ena, Gasologa Pelenato,  Kelvin Masoe, Kerisimasi Savaiinaea, Labour Tuiala, Mathew Kolio, Pesamino Iakopo, Piilua Sapapalii, Tomasi Teo and Tuia Salima.

The additional 16 includes, Iakopo Selausene, Lomiga Fatu, Ueta Avaotuna, PJ Leuluaialii, Lemisio Tovio, Tila Mealoi, Taualai Panoa, Malo Tiumalu Soo, Elia Tumatavai, Faafou Amate, Liahona Vaegaau, Faafouina Loau, Kirisimasi Tiumalu, Enosa Auvaa, Malu Falaniko, and Phillipe Toelupe.

Head coach Muliagatele Brian Lima and his management were training with all the four teams at the JS Blatter Football field, Tuanaimato on Thursday morning.
