TV1 presenter, Francis Vaigalepa, has tied the knot with his university sweetheart, Robyn Salamasina Vaigalepa.

Family members, colleagues and friends witnessed the couple at the Mulivai Catholic Cathedral last Friday seal their love in holy matrimony.

Mr. Vaigalepa, 24, told the Samoa Observer after the nuptial ceremony they were looking forward to what is ahead.

"After today, we feel complete and we look forward to what lies ahead for us in the future," he said. "We finally have sealed the deal and made it official and even better for our kids so it’s a great milestone for us."

The newly wedded couple initially met at the National University of Samoa (N.U.S.) in 2015 and became good friends before their relationship became serious.

They have two children after five years of being together.

Asked what type of family they wanted to build, Mr. Vaigalepa said they wanted to become self-reliant instead of depending on others such as their parents.

“And that’s my advice for young couples out there as well, as we develop our families, it is also important that we think about what our parents need as they grow older than us and by being able to help them, we have to be self-dependent,” he said.

Acknowledging the public profile that came with his job as a TV presenter, Mr. Vaigalepa also appealed for the public to be wary of the COVID-19 pandemic and Samoa’s two suspected cases.

“It’s very important that our country stand together at these very unprecedented times especially now with the situation we are in with the suspected cases,” he said.

“Always wear your masks, we do our job which is to inform you on events that matter while you do your job of keeping a healthy environment for our future generation.”Vaigalepa has been working for the media Industry for more than two years.

Mr. Vaigalepa is from Fausaga and Samalaeulu in Savaii and his 22-year-old wife hails from Fagalii and is the granddaughter of Malietoa Fa’amausili Moli.
