The Samoa Meteorological Service has urged members of the public to take precaution as it issued a heavy rain and flood advisory warning for all of Samoa.

The S.M.S. issued the heavy rain and flood advisory in its weather bulletin that was distributed at 5pm Sunday [local time] as it says satellite images taken early Sunday morning showed a developing cloud band of convective activities lying over Samoa which is associated with a broad area of low-pressure system.

"This system is expected to intensify later today and will bring wet and gusty weather conditions for Samoa from time to time," the S.M.S. weather bulletin stated.

Residents on both Upolu and Savai'i have been told that they can expect heavy downpour with poor visibility, gusty winds, foggy and slippery roads over mountain passes and ranges.

There will also be water pooling near roadsides and waterways and possible flooding may result as long as the low-pressure system hangs in the vicinity of the islands, added the S.M.S. weather bulletin.

The next weather bulletin will be issued by the service at 5am Monday morning.
