No matter the hardship, just keep trusting God

God’s peace surpasses all understanding.

Despite numerous complaints from villagers in Nu’u village about drunkards on the road, Faai’u Linonikolau says it is God’s peace that keeps her safe.

Aged 26, Faai’u takes care of her three kids and lives with her husband and mother. She says that her side of the village is very peaceful because of her good neighbours.

“Our neighbourhood is actually really peaceful compared to other parts of Nu’u,” Faai’u told the Village Voice.

“The neighbours and our family have come to an understanding of peace and that is why we don’t have much trouble with people making noises and causing trouble.”

“We don’t run into any kind of trouble here and that is what I love about living here. Other areas have drunkards walking around the road but our side is peaceful.”

Both her husband and mother have jobs which helps take care of the family. Faai’u is tasked with taking care of the children and the house.

“My mother and husband are currently employed and I stay at home to take care of the house and children,” she said.

“Right now we have enough to take care of all the needs of the family. But to be honest we do have our days. Sometimes we have enough money and other times we don’t.”

“When we don’t have enough money then we have to go around finding a way to get enough to buy our daily necessities.”

When asked if she feels that Samoa has any form of poverty, she said no.

“The way I see it, I don’t believe there is any poverty in Samoa,” Faai’u said.

“Yes we have some who struggle but they still have enough to get through the day. Take my family for example; we struggle here and there but we manage to get what we need every day.”

“It all depends on the hard work you put into making ends meet. We also have to rely on the Lord for his goodness to shine on us.”

Her message for those who are struggling with life is that they should place all trust in the Lord to give them peace and a happy life.

“Whenever you find yourself struggling then always remember to trust in the Lord,” Faai’u said.

“He is the source of all strength so when we trust him, he will make your life a little easier. He gives you the strength to get through the day. If you worry too much then you won’t get anywhere in life.

“If you give your heart to the Lord no matter how many things you have then there will be nothing too hard for you.”
