Suluimalo Penaia eyes Aleipata seat
One more former senior public servant has put his hand up for Parliament.
Suluimalo Amataga Penaia, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (M.N.R.E.) has been nominated to run for the Aleipata Itupa Luga constituency.
The 54-year-old was the Ministry’s Chief Executive Officer in 2017 and was succeeded by Ulu Bismarck Crawley, who is also contesting the 2021 General Election.
Currently, a member of the Samoa Water Authority Board of Directors, Suluimalo confirmed he is running for the election.
Prior to taking the top job at the M.N.R.E., Suluimalo held the position of Assistant C.E.O. at the same Ministry.
He has previously worked as the Manager of Upolu Operations from 2002 to 2005, and Manager of Savai'i Operations from 2001-2002 for the Samoa Water Authority.
Suluimalo has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the South Pacific (U.S.P.) as well as an advanced graduate diploma of business management from the University of New England, Australia and a graduate certificate in integrated water management from Griffith University, Australia.
He hails from the villages of Vailoa Aleipata, Lufilufi and Satitoa and is married with six children.
