P.M. reveals plan for more repatriation flights

Prime Minister Tuilaepa Dr. Sa'ilele Mailelegaoi has revealed plans for more repatriation flights, including one from the United States as well as Europe to bring Samoans home. 

Tuilaepa made the announcement during his weekly programme with TV3 on Wednesday evening.

“The next flight coming from New Zealand is on 30 October," he said. "The one after is on 13 November. And there is also a chartered flight coming from America, bringing [citizens] stuck in United States and Europe on the 27 November 2020."

Tuilaepa added that there are additional flights being planned for December.

The last repatriation flight came from Australia. Since May, the Government has repatriated some 2,357 Samoan citizens. 

Tuilaepa also urged Samoans who are keen to come home to the take precautionary measures to ensure they are coronavirus-free given the risk taken by the Government to repatriate them.

The Prime Minister said on 11 December 2020 will most likely be the last flight.
