Six-year-old Aj Unasa from Vailoa gathered all of his courage and conquered his nerves to recite a Bible verse in front of a crowd on Friday.

He chose 1 Samuel 16:12: “So Jesse sent for his youngest son and brought him in.

“He was ruddy, with beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance. And the Lord said, ‘Rise and anoint him, for he is the one.'”

Aj was among 20 winners of a $500 prize in an Anchor brand White Sunday cash promotion held on Friday amidst heavy rain.

In the spirit of White Sunday celebrations, Anchor Milk and Ah Liki Wholesale joined forces for the promotion to commemorate the annual children’s national holiday.

Scriptural recitation is one of the main activities for children on their special day.

The six-year-old winner was accompanied by his mother, Lita Unasa who thanked the companies for their generosity in conducting promotions that benefit the community amid the economic downturn.

“We participated in the promotion by buying a lot of milk and entering our children’s names but I guess Aj was the lucky one,” she said.

Mrs. Unasa added that, thanks to the cash prize, her children will have good food and clothes for White Sunday.

“I thank God for blessing us with this money through this promotion that will help us with all our shopping,” she said.

“We will continue to take part in future promotions because we are grateful for the reward.”

The Anchor cash promotion started on 10 August and runs until 4 October 2020.

The joint promotion was designed to reward loyal customers of Anchor Milk and Ah Liki Wholesale in Upolu and Savaii with over $10,000 in prizes.

The two companies said in a statement that in these difficult times during the COVID-19 period of economic downturn, they hoped the prizes would offset some of Samoan families’ financial burdens.

The Anchor brand has been a part of the community for over 25 years and regularly funds promotions to provide assistance to the community.

Ah Liki Wholesale acknowledged the Anchor brand’s ongoing assistance since its entry to the Samoan market over 20 years ago.

“This partnership has grown over the years and has given the people of Samoa the opportunity to enjoy quality products at affordable prices,” said Asiata Alex Brunt, Ah Liki Wholesale’s General Manager.

“Approximately 10,000 entries were received for the promotion and we are delighted with the growing number of people in Samoa that enjoyed Anchor milk products.

“On behalf of the Anchor brand, we extend many congratulations to our lucky 20 winners and a huge thank you to all our customers for your continuous support.”
