Vodafone Samoa has thrown its support behind Samoa Tag-run Vodafone Teuila Tag Tournament, held on Saturday at the St. Joseph's College, Alafua.

Vodafone says it has always been a strong pillar of support of the sporting community.

The Vodafone Teuila Tag Tournament is the pinnacle of the Tag calendar year for all international and domestic Tag clubs, as it attracts over 50-plus clubs with the tournament run during the Teuila festival week.

However, due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, the Samoa Tag Tournament calendar had to be rearranged and restricted to local clubs this year.

Vodafone Samoa’s Chief Executive Officer, Nofoasaefa Satish Sharma, said the company is keen to complete its mission to enrich people's lives.

"It is evident that we are always reinvesting into our sporting communities, via in-kind or monetary - it is our mission is to help enrich people’s lives and this extends to helping develop our local sporting talents too.

“As mentioned, we’re always more on community support, always more on data, always more on network coverage."

He further explained that Samoa TAG Incorporated has grown significantly in Samoa in recent years.

“The sport is seen to be a fun sport for persons of all ages, all genders, all fitness levels and much like Vodafone’s network, it’s suitable for everyone. We wish all the clubs the best as they prepare for the Vodafone Teuila Tag tournament,” he said.

Samoa Tag Incorporated President, Faaofonuu JP Leota, said it was due to Vodafone’s support that the Vodafone Teuila TAG Tournament can continue despite the restrictions and the changes taking place.

Therefore, he added that Samoa Tag Inc is very grateful for Vodafone’s generosity.

“On behalf of Samoa Tag Incorporated, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Vodafone Samoa’s C.E.O. Nofoasaefa Satish Sharma, Yolande and the team for believing in Samoa TAG Incorporated and supporting us and our community during a global pandemic,” he added.

Vodafone [since its launch date] has invested over $370,000 tala worth of monetary and in-kind support within the communities with the firm saying this is only just the beginning of many more to come.

“Vodafone is always more on community support, therefore make the switch and support Vodafone who supports your community."
