Police have appealed for information in relation to another hit-and-run incident that left a teenager who was crossing the street at Vailoa on Wednesday night with serious injuries.

The Samoa Police Service announced appealed for information in a post on its Facebook page after 5pm on Thursday evening.

Police say a 15-year-old male pedestrian suffered serious injuries in the incident which occurred at around 10pm.

“A 15-year-old male pedestrian sustained serious injuries following a motor vehicle accident at Vailoa Faleata last night Wednesday, 30th September 2020 at around 10pm."

The incident occurred along Vaitele Street in front of a gas station at Vailoa, according to the police statement.

After the vehicle struck by the victim, the driver of the car did not stop to attend to the wounded pedestrian.

“The victim was crossing the road when he was allegedly hit by an unknown vehicle who failed to stop following the accident,” police said.

The police are appealing to anyone with information regarding this matter to call the Police Headquarters on telephone 22222 or by stopping at any nearby police station.

It is not the first time for a member of the public to be hit by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident.

In July this year a man who was riding his bicycle next to the Lalovaea Bridge was hit by a vehicle and killed, leading to the Police also appealing for information at that time.
