SCOPA Cowboys and Marist Saints are heading for the rugby league clash of the year in what is being billed as Samoa's State of Origin.

The Island Origin will be played this Saturday.

"The SCOPA versus the Saints is the first of its kind in the history of Rugby League in Samoa. The series is the best of two and will have three games starting this weekend with the second match on the 3rd October for the Grand Final," says Tagaloa Faafouina Sua, the President of Samoa Rugby league.

The School of Origin has been done before between the two teams but with other sports and not rugby league.

"Hence, since the comeback of SCOPA Cowboys this year and the launch of the First-Ever Island Origin this Saturday," he added.

The SCOPA Cowboys will play against Marist Saints in the final match in which everyone will be looking forward to, it is the clash of the century.

"The SCOPA Cowboys vs Marist Saints final match will be the curtain-raiser to the first ISLAND of ORIGINs Game on the 4th of November at ACP Marist Stadium. Although we believe there will be players from both teams making the TUMUA Maroons (UPOLU) and the PULE6 Blues (SAVAII), however, that is footy and it happens in the State of Origin," he said.

The list for the Island of Origin will also be announced on Saturday during the Semi-Finals at the ACP Marist Stadium.

"We launched the Fantastic 4 competition in the last three years but this year Union is doing its Super 4. Hence, need to elevate to another level with the Origins of the ISLANDS," he added.

He believes that this is the time for this league competitions.
