Taxi driver crashes into parked cars

A taxi driven by an alleged drunk driver veered off the road and smashed into a parked Ford Ranger in front of the Apollo Cinemas on Saturday morning.

The force with which the taxi hit the Ford Ranger was such that the parked pick-up truck then hit another vehicle at the front resulting in a flat tyre and dismounted bumper. The driver of the truck and the third vehicle, a Toyota Caldina, were not in their cars at the time of the crash.

Police who were at the scene declined to speak to the Samoa Observer.

But a bystander, who only wanted to be identified as Sione, said the taxi driver was speeding. He said someone could have been seriously injured if someone was in the parked cars.

When the Samoa Observer arrived at the scene, Police Officers were interviewing drivers and bystanders.

The male driver of the white taxi was taken in a Police vehicle.
