School Principal targets Salega East seat
The Principal of Savai'i Sisifo College, Tapuai Etuale Vui, is looking for a career change.
The 59-year-old father from Sagone has put his hand up to contest the Salega East seat at the upcoming General Election carrying the Tautua Samoa Party banner.
In doing so, he will be competing against incumbent Member of Parliament for Salega East, Olo Fiti Vaai.
In the last 37 years, Tapuai has dedicated his life to educating students from the district with 26 years being the School Principal for Savaii Sisifo College.
The educator feels that it is now time to put the duster and chalk down and look into bigger issues in terms of the country’s development and economy.
He said those developments start from the villages where construction of roads, water supply and electricity connection remains a challenge for his constituency.
Tapuai acknowledged the work from the ruling government for more than 30 years it has been in government. However he feels that it is now time for a different party to fish for the country and provide for the people’s needs.
“They have been fishing for the past 30 years and its now time for another party to do that work should the country decides during polling date,” said the teacher.
“My constituency are those that live off the land. I applaud current government for their work but we need water supply and electricity connection further in Sagone.
“These are some of the developments that I hope to address should I be successful in the general election.”
Tapuai added that there is no police post in the district of Salega and Palauli.
The father of four believes it is time to build one in Sagone that will be central to the two districts.
