Development Bank of Samoa and Bank South Pacific have come out victors in the women’s and mixed team divisions in the Battle of the Banks four-day competition.

BSP defeated Samoa Commercial Bank 17-9 in their first clash, but it was a tough game as both teams worked to make their mark on the game.

Families and supporters of the six banks that competed in the competition all gathered at the Netball Multipurpose Gymnasium, Tuanaimato.

The six banks were Samoa Commercial Bank, BSP, ANZ Bank, National Bank of Samoa, DBS and the Central Bank of Samoa.

Sera Mataia of DBS said one of the benefits of the relaxing of state of emergency [S.O.E.] orders is their ability to get out and about and their ability to exercise.

"For the four days, it was all about fellowship and supporting Samoa Netball initiative for this year. The turn-out has been very good, the commitment from all the other banks has been very very good. And it's a good thing we won after a four-day challenge,” she added.

For the women's division, third place went to D.B.S. with the C.B.S. runners up and first place and shield holder for 2020 going to BSP.

The Most Improved Player of the tournament went to Epi of D.B.S.

For the mixed teams, third place went to CBS, BSP came in second with D.B.S. coming out on top. The Most Improved Player for the Mixed Division went to Sam of S.C.B.

According to C.E.O. Rosemarie Lome, this tournament will be done annually from here on onwards as the outcome was fantastic.
